This notice explains, in plain language, what BienPlace does with your personal data. It describes the product as it works today. Last updated: September 2026.
Who we are and how to contact us
BienPlace is the name of this service. Full details of the organisation responsible for your data will be published here. In the meantime, you can manage or delete your data yourself from your Profile page, and reach us through the Contact page.
What we collect
• Account data: your email address, sign-in method and password (stored securely by our authentication system, never readable by us). • Your CV: the file you upload and the text extracted from it. • Your profile: details extracted from your CV and anything you add or correct — name, headline, job titles, seniority, experience, location, skills, education and an optional LinkedIn profile link. • Job preferences and searches: target roles, locations, salary, work style, contract type, excluded industries and alert settings. • Your activity with jobs: results shown to you, saved, dismissed and applied jobs, application notes and match feedback. • Alerts: your chosen channels, the email address you ask us to use, alert history, and browser push subscriptions if you turn push on. • Product usage events: e.g. search run, job saved, alert opened — linked to your account, used to improve the service. • Optional: whether you found a job and whether we helped.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
• To provide the service you signed up for — building your profile, searching job sources, ranking matches and sending the alerts you asked for. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you. • To keep the service secure and working, and to improve matching quality using your feedback and usage events. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a reliable, useful service, balanced against your rights. • Service emails about searches you set up are part of the service. We do not send you marketing.
AI-assisted processing and match scores
We use AI to extract structured information from your CV. Matching is automated: each job is checked against your hard criteria (e.g. location, salary, seniority) and given a fit score with a written explanation. Scores only decide which jobs we show you and in what order. They are never used to make decisions about you, and nothing is sent to employers. You can correct your profile at any time, and you can tell us a match is wrong.
Is my CV shared with employers?
No. Uploading a CV doesn’t make your profile public, and we don’t send your CV or profile to employers or recruiters. When you click through to apply, you go to the employer’s or job board’s own site, and you choose what to submit there. Their privacy terms then apply.
Who else processes your data
We use service providers to run the product: cloud hosting, database and file storage; an authentication service; an AI model provider to read CVs; and, once set up, an email delivery provider for alerts. Browser push notifications are delivered through your browser vendor’s push service. Our providers only process data on our instructions. We ask job sources for vacancies using your search terms. Your CV and profile are not sent to them.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account from your Profile page, we delete your login, your stored CV files, and all the data linked to your account listed above. Backups held by our hosting provider expire on their normal cycle.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or move your data, and to restrict or object to how we use it. You can correct your profile and delete your account yourself at any time. For anything else, contact us. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies and device storage
We use essential browser storage to keep you signed in. If you turn on push notifications, your browser stores a push subscription. We don’t use advertising cookies. See the Cookies page for details.
Third-party job sources
Vacancies come from employer career systems and permitted job-data providers. When you follow an application link, you leave BienPlace and that site’s privacy terms apply.
